PITTSBURGH, Pa., December 15, 2008 – ClearCount Medical Solutions, an innovator of patient safety solutions for the O.R., announced today the appointment of James Sweeney to the position of Vice President of Marketing. In this capacity, Mr. Sweeney will oversee the development and execution of the company’s marketing strategy including the commercialization of the Company’s groundbreaking SmartSponge® System.

Sweeney previously served as Senior Vice President of Commercial Operations for Renal Solutions, Inc., responsible for marketing, sales, clinical, and business development, while assisting in building a ten-fold value increase over four years. He also served in numerous senior level positions at Baxter Healthcare over a seventeen-year period, including Vice President / General Manager of Baxter Renal Asia, a $100M operating unit serving 14 countries with 250 employees.
Mr. Sweeney serves as a Board member on the National Kidney Foundation of the Alleghenies. He holds an MBA in Marketing/Business Strategy from the Kellogg Graduate School of Business at Northwestern University and a BS in Accounting from Miami University.
